It is perhaps not surprising that I painted ‘Watershed’ during the rainiest July I’ve ever experienced in Perth, with no less than 18 consecutive days punctuated by the sounds of water around me. But the real story is the sense of renewal I was experiencing, like the sun shining again after a long storm.

My journey as an artist is constantly evolving, and this winter I have felt a shift. In my confidence on the canvas, in defining my style, in my vision for the stories that capture my attention. We never stop emerging, if we are open to fresh inspiration. Sometimes it takes a rainstorm to clear away room for fresh growth
