This painting is about the joy of discovery. As an abstract artist, I try to capture a story’s emotional arc in each painting. People often ask me to describe what is on the canvas, and I respond: it can be what you want it to be. I believe the enchantment of abstract art is not only in what the painter expresses, but also in what the viewer discovers, through the lens of their own stories and experiences.

I painted this piece while listening to my favourite Australian band, Hunters and Collectors. I spent many a night in the smoked filled venues of the 80’s in front of their stage as a teenager, mesmerized and transported by sound. Where does your favourite music transport you? What do you see?
