How big are your artworks?

Whilst I really enjoy working on larger canvasses, I can produce works of any size. The smallest canvasses that I work on usually start at (60.9 x 50.8cm) ranging up to the standard (121.9cm x 121.9cm) and upwards from there for commissioned pieces. Most artwork is sent unframed with painted sides, ready to hang. I can arrange framing on request for an additional cost.

What media do you use?

I use high quality acrylic paints. I also enjoy using mixed media such as oil pastels, gloss mediums, various markers and some collage in my work.

Where do you get your inspiration?

For me, painting is an personal journey. I am able to express my feelings when I paint and I find inspiration listening to music, people-watching, and nature. I’m often asked how I start a painting. My process always starts with two or three colours. I’m not afraid to put lots of paint on the canvas and see where it takes me.

Who are your favourite artists?

As a young girl I was interested in the masters; Van Gogh, Dali and Picasso. I had loads of art books and enjoyed visiting galleries to see art up close and personal. To this day, nothing compares to seeing an unfinished painting by Van Gogh on the Rive Gauche, Paris. I find the work of today’s contemporary abstract artists so inspiring; Julie Schumer, Cat Tesla, Wendy McWilliams, Trine Paynum, Jodie King, Ian Rayer-Smith and David Mankin,

What happens if I commission a painting but I am unhappy with it?

You won’t be stuck with a painting you dislike. I commit a lot of energy to the discovery process that kicks off every commissioned work. During that session, I listen closely to both the story you want to express and your tastes, preferences, and expectations. There is a short interview process and a proposed outline of the commission. You will have as much input as you’d like into aspects that are important to you, including the size of the canvas and the colour palette of the work, for example. You are putting your story in my hands, trusting me to interpret it through my abstract lens. I will share my portfolio and some ideas with you, to make sure we leave the session with a strong mutual understanding of what you want in your custom artwork.

At the end of that session, you can decide whether or not you’d like to proceed. If you do, I will require a non-refundable deposit (typically around 40% of the total payment), to move forward. The painting becomes your property when you pay the remainder upon delivery of the completed work. I will do everything I can to ensure you are happy with that final artwork.
