'Walking In Memphis'
'Walking In Memphis'

61 x 77 cm / 24” x 30” (FRAMED)
This painting is a tribute to a friend we lost far too soon. Kevin had a brilliant mind, full of interesting perspective and insights, which I first discovered whilst on a tour of Taiwan. Of course, there is sorrow on the canvas, but it is juxtaposed against a more powerful and uplifting sense of celebration for the life he led.
The connection to the title may seem random, but in fact, Walking in Memphis is a song about being transformed, awoken. The song-writer (Marc Cohen) found himself a different person after his soul-searching journey. I like to think about the relationships we forge in this life as making an indelible mark on our souls, and when we celebrate and honour them, we too are awoken.
