This painting is an ode to a classic summer delight: fireflies flickering in the garden of late evening. Their glow gives me a nostalgic feeling for simpler times.

The world’s population of fireflies is diminishing because of the proliferation of light pollution. We may need light to guide our paths, but fireflies can’t find each other unless they can shine in the darkness; they lose their mates in the glare. I hope we will leave enough untouched darkness for them to flourish once again.
