This is a story of the power of place in bolstering family bonds. It reminds me of looking at the cliffs from the Manly Beach ferry, being on the water amongst the yachts and the sounds of sea. My Dad used to take me there as a teenager on special occasions, to barbecue steaks on the beach. My husband grew up in that area, and many years later, we brought our own children there – regular trips for fish and chips, chasing seagulls through the waves. It will forever be a special place for generations of our family.
