This painting is dedicated to the women and children of Afghanistan, who have been in my heart these last weeks and months. I tried to imagine having to flee my home without my belongings, bringing only what I could wear. The unfairness, the desperation, the terror and uncertainty is almost unbearable. I tried to see a glimmer of hope through their eyes, and I don’t know where it will come from or how it will materialize, but I have to believe it will emerge when they can once again rest. Let us all do what we can to bring hope into the lives of those who need it.
