'Tightrope'
‘Tightrope’ (2024), 100cm x 100cm, acrylic on wood panel, oil sticks, oil pastel and graphite.
Tightrope is all about that feeling of walking the line—between chaos and calm, boldness and hesitation, clarity and uncertainty. The title came to me as I was working through the layers… trying to find balance without smoothing everything out too much. Just like walking a literal tightrope, there’s a sense of tension and movement here, but also control and poise.
There are heavy black marks and vibrant pops of hot pink and electric blue that cut through the more neutral tones, kind of like emotional flashes or sudden turns in direction. The forms feel a little risky, a little playful—like they’re leaning into the unknown without falling over.
This piece is for anyone who knows that living boldly doesn’t mean having it all figured out—it just means showing up and holding your line, even when it wobbles a bit.
