This painting tells a story of hope. The Ukrainian people have been on my heavy heart, the sadness on this canvas is for their terrible plight – facing lethal threats to country, home and family. While I mourned, I listened to a song I love (Always The Sun, by The Stranglers) which reminds us that while there is much we cannot predict, control or even understand, we can be a positive force for hope and light in our own lives. Illuminating gloom can help see us through much sadness. I hope with everything in me that the sun will shine on the Ukraine once again.
